At YWAM Užice, Serbia, we have experienced many of the same emotions you will have experienced during these uncertain times of lockdown and isolation. From boredom to frustration and being encouraged at seeing how the Lord still works, often in spite of us. We had plans of hosting teams, travelling to trainings, and being involved in street evangelism during these months. But God has shown us other areas in which we needed to invest and go deeper. We believe we will see the harvest from these months of preparation in the future.

One of our focuses as a team has been on completing the Disciple Making Movement course, run out of YWAM Frontier Missions. It tackles the hard questions of “Am I too busy to make disciples?” and has had us evaluating, sometimes brutally, our own commitment to some of our core values, Knowing God & Making God Known. We are hopeful that in the coming months we will be able to put into practice all we’re learning in seeing lost souls come home, and then begin the process of discipleship in Užice.

Another focus has been maintaining relationships with locals. Thinking outside the box has really enabled this and looks different for each of our team members. From phone/zoom calls, texts, and emails, to socially distanced walks, bible studies, mentoring sessions, and even the odd birthday party! It has been so good to see that our God is not restricted in this season. If anything, He’s doing even more than we could think, ask, or imagine!

We have also, obviously, been involved in countless zoom calls, and have become somewhat used to this new way of communication, tough as it can be at times. We’ve kept to our daily team meeting schedule and cannot wait to meet in person again!
