YWAM
Bulgaria
YWAM in Bulgaria has teams and ministries in Hissar and Sliven. We also have one family in Stara Zagora serving Deaf communities and ministry in Dimitrovgrad and several other places. We are Bulgarian, Roma, American, Swiss and Norwegian, all working together. Some of us have worked together for many years! We serve through leadership training, family ministry, discipleship groups and mercy ministry. We reach out in orphanages and love to host outreach teams.
Bulgaria has many open doors and opportunities so we welcome people from different nations and backgrounds to serve together with us in Bulgaria with creativity and passion. Our passion is to see communities transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

YWAM Sliven
“Healing and developing Gypsy people.”
Our passion is to usher Roma leaders and ministers towards healing and development in Bulgaria and abroad. Our goals are to help them develop a Biblical worldview and to equip them for building meaningful relationships within their community. By encouraging them to be dependent on God and moved by personal relationship with Him, we are releasing them to serve the nations and build the Kingdom of God amongst the Roma people.
YWAM Hissar
Hissar is a small town between Plovdiv and Kazanlak with a rich history, Roman walls and mineral water. Our YWAM team in Hissar engages with the community through English groups, Bible studies, and serving in orphanages. We are passionate about intercession and discipleship! We are also creating a reconciliation network to encourage the many churches and ethnical groups in Bulgaria to serve God together.
YWAM Dimitrograd
In Dimitrovgrad and a nearby village, our team is serving in small Roma church plants—leading both Sunday services and children’s programs. We are also reaching out to locals through Family Ministries. We long to see our communities transformed by the love of Jesus from the inside out!
YWAM Stara Zagora
In a village outside of Stara Zagora, we are pioneering a ministry amongst marginalized communities, including the Deaf Community. We have a heart to disciple people in practical ways and we long to see the people of Bulgaria following Christ passionately.
YWAM Family ministry
As Family Ministries Bulgaria, we enjoy serving the Lord and building the Kingdom with various events throughout the year that are geared towards building healthy, Christ-centered families. With family camps, home groups, seminars, Marriage Week celebrations, and the School of Christian Foundations, we reach out to families both locally and regionally. Our desire is for families to be transformed and become agents for transformation!
A Brief History of YWAM Bulgaria
During the Communist Era, missionaries came into Bulgaria to bring Bibles and bless people. After the fall of Communism in 1989, many outreach teams came for a few days to several months. In the beginning of the 90s we saw many miracles happen and people being very open for the Gospel. Hundreds came to Christ at big evangelistic events and churches were full! After a few years the churches became smaller and practical dicipleship was a great need.
We started YWAM Bulgaria in 1992 with a team from Norway. That same year we started DTS. Over the years we have had many DTSes in different places in Bulgaria and outreaches both in Bulgaria and many other nations. Also during that first year we started family camps and the Go Festival.
