In Budapest, our Coffee House team has been working hard to adapt to the Coronavirus situation. As you can imagine, because of the needed social distancing and stay-at-home orders, many cafés in Budapest had to close their doors. We, too, are affected and have had to pause normal daily operations of the coffee house.
Our team, however, has been seeking creative ways to be a blessing. We are preparing and delivering coffee and fresh baked cookies to the poor and the Hungarian medical community. In addition, Friday Night Live Music Sessions are continuing over Facebook live-stream.
For the past couple of weeks, we have been baking about 400 chocolate chip cookies per week for the medical staff in hospitals and for people in need. Our coffee house is closed due to Covid-19, and we thought that this would be a great way to still be a blessing in the city.

We also had a few bags with quality coffee left that we could give to the hospitals. We wanted to encourage them, lighten up their days, and give them an energy boost. It is great to see how this strange season has opened up opportunities for us to partner with a local church. We also got to know a restaurant around the corner of our coffee house that has been cooking meals for people in need. We could bless them with cookies that they could then give as a dessert. We are incredibly grateful that we have gotten to know them.

Our vision, as always, is to be a Gospel witness in the heart of the city, sharing the hope of Jesus, discipling believers, and serving the body of Christ by collaborating with local churches and ministries. By God’s grace and provision our ministry center has continued to become established throughout the last 20 years. This has been quite an undertaking, but we are now seeing more than ever why a strong presence like this can be used in the hands of the Lord. God is at work in Hungary and we have the great privilege to be a small part of what He is doing in reaching the lost and sowing into the harvest. These are challenging times, but we’re hopeful that our creative efforts to bless the city will make a difference.
