A former USSR republic who declared its independence in 1990, Moldova lies between Ukraine and Romania, and is still politically unstable. The 4.5 million population is 64% Moldavian/Romanian, influenced by regained strength of the Orthodox church.
Formerly ruled by Romania, Moldova became part of the Soviet Union at the close of World War II. Although independent from the USSR since 1991, Russian forces have remained on Moldovan territory east of the Nistru (Dnister) River supporting the Slavic majority population (mostly Ukrainians and Russians) who have proclaimed a “Transnistria”republic.
YWAM in Moldova
YWAM Cahul is in the stage of pioneering!!! It’s a base planted by YWAM Medias (Romania) in 2011 in Southern of Moldova, 175 km from Chisinau, the capital. Right now it’s the only base in Moldova with 4 staff, 2 kids (all Moldavians) and two American volunteers. Our vision is to reach the young generation with the Gospel in order to transform society. The vision it’s for the whole country.
We are called to motivate young generation to go into missions and to reach our country as well as other countries.
There are several tools we use for this:
• Seminaries & Conferences
*DTS (June – October 2014) – This DTS will be the third DTS in Moldova! The first DTS was in 2011. This should be a voice for the young generations – a calling to change our personal life and to have big dreams with God.
